THE CHOIR
The St Peter’s Singers choir, Heswall’s Choral Society, is a well-established group of singers, founded in 1976, who enjoy performing a wide variety of choral music. Our members come from Heswall and across the surrounding areas of the Wirral.
Our main concerts take place at The Lighthouse Church in Heswall, with special performances at Easter and Christmas. We often hold additional rehearsals in the summer, leading to another community concert. Over the years, the choir has grown in popularity and now attracts audiences from all over the Wirral.
We rehearse on Sunday evenings at the St Peter’s Centre in Lower Heswall, and we’re always happy to welcome new members. If you’re interested in joining us, please visit our Join Us page for more details.

THE ORCHESTRA
We are proud to regularly perform alongside the professional orchestra, The Summerstrand Ensemble, which brings a truly special quality to our concerts.
A founding principle of the Society has always been to present concerts with the full instrumentation as intended by the composer – something quite rare for a small local choir, where accompaniment by piano or organ is more typical.
Under the expert leadership of our Musical Director, Adrian Griffiths, we continue to expand our musical range, exploring works with diverse and exciting orchestrations. Notable past performances include Handel’s Messiah, and more recently Vivaldi’s Gloria and Haydn’s Missa Sancti Nicolai, accompanied by The Summerstrand Ensemble.
Looking ahead, we hope to work with period instruments and collaborate with other musical groups and orchestras from across the region.
A full list of the music we have performed can be found in the Our Music section.
OUR AUDIENCE
Our concerts are always well supported – often close to capacity and on occasion sold out. We owe this enviable record to a core of loyal supporters and Patrons who have followed the St Peter’s Singers for many years.
As our repertoire has grown and our ambition has flourished we have drawn in a wider group of concert goers – attracted by the music on offer and the rising standards of the performances. Our heritage is a community choir for Heswall and we are deeply appreciative of the support this receives.
We are excited by the prospect of widening our appeal, interacting with other choral and orchestral groups and attracting new friends from a wider area.
THE CHURCHES
Our choir began with the support and friendship of the clergy and congregation of St Peter’s Church and The Church of the Good Shepherd in the Parish of Heswall. While we have grown over the years into a wider community choir, our special relationship with the churches remains at the heart of what we do.
We are incredibly grateful for the continued support we receive, including the use of church facilities for both rehearsals and performances. Our rehearsals take place at The St Peter’s Centre in Lower Heswall, and our two main concerts, at Easter and Christmas, are held in the beautiful new Lighthouse Church in Heswall, where they remain an important part of the church’s celebrations.
